Case study 1: International IT consultancy

This large American IT consultancy company comprising of employees from of diverse nationalities with their European HQ in the UK realised that project managers and other software professionals did not have the skills to cope with cross-cultural issues. This problem was further compounded by the fact that employees were formed into culturally diverse teams, working in different countries within the sub-cultures of the client locations. Even the client, one of the world's largest financial services companies, sensed the burning ‘issue' of ‘managing cross cultural differences' and its the resultant negative impact this was having on project deadlines, team morale and software deliverables.

Sunit advised the team in overcoming the difficulties that arose as a result of this cross-cultural diversity. By developing a series of training programs for software professionals, project managers and the management team, feedback from each of the programmes was collated and fed back to the management with recommendations to resolve and understand the key issues that were uncovered. This resulted in a very highly raised much-improved morale within employees, a better understanding of people's backgrounds and motivations and a marked increase in team cohesiveness.
